• 2026-2028 State School Superintendent's Parent Advisory Council Nomination Form

  • State School Superintendent Richard Woods seeks nominations for parents to serve on the 2026-2028 State School Superintendent’s Parent Advisory Council (PAC).

PAC is a group of parents from across the state that provides input on new policies, initiatives, and resources that affect students and their families. Advisory Council members help identify ways to strengthen parent and family engagement in support of student success. Members serve as advisors to the State School Superintendent and meet with him several times throughout their two-year term.

PAC will convene three times during each school year. Members selected to serve on the 2026-2028 council will serve a two-year term, contributing their insights and experiences to support the success of Georgia’s students.

To be eligible, the nominated parent must:

    • Be the parent of a child enrolled in a Title I school. For the purpose of the PAC "parent" includes a parent, grandparent, foster parent, aunt, uncle, legal guardian, or another adult who serves as the primary caregiver.
    • Commit to attending all PAC meetings throughout the two-year term.

The three PAC meetings for the 2026–2027 school year are tentatively scheduled for Thursday, October 22, 2026; Wednesday, January 27, 2027; and Wednesday, April 28, 2027. Dates are subject to change. The October and April meetings will be held in person at the Georgia Department of Education (GaDOE) offices in Atlanta from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The January meeting will be held virtually via Microsoft Teams from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. GaDOE will reimburse travel-related expenses for attendees of the in-person meetings. PAC members missing two or more meetings will not continue serving during the second year of their term.

Local educational agencies (LEAs) that do not currently have representation on the State School Superintendent's PAC are encouraged to submit a nomination. Each LEA may submit only one nomination, and former council members are not eligible to serve again.

GaDOE staff will review nominations and select PAC members. The selected parent and the individual who submitted the nomination will be notified by September 25, 2026.
